Dear Members, the EA want your views:
River coarse fishing close season consultation
The Environment Agency is consulting on the future of the statutory coarse fishing close season on rivers in England. The annual coarse fishing close season on all rivers, some canals and some stillwaters in England runs from 15 March to 15 June. Through this consultation we want to hear from all those with an interest in river fish and fisheries. We want to understand peoples' views and receive any additional evidence, before we decide whether there is a case for change. We also want to understand how retaining, removing or changing the close season might affect angling and angling-related businesses.
We are consulting on three options:
1. To retain the statutory current close season
2. To remove the close season
3. To retain a close season, but change the start and end dates to 15 April and 30 June.
How to respond To respond online to the consultation, please visit consult.environmentagency.gov.uk/fisheries/consultation-on-the-review-of-the-close-season.
