These events are hosted with the AMHI (Angling & Mental Health Initiative) and are completely free for everyone.
The events are run using the Angling Trust’s amazing ‘Get Fishing Awards’ scheme, this allows you to earn an award for every session you attend (Bronze/Silver/Gold). Using the Get Fishing scheme allows coaches to deliver structured and proven lesson plans.

AMHI & HHDAS want to share the wellbeing benefits that fishing can bring and provide the community with an accessible platform. We introduce people to the sport of fishing using the Let’s Go Fishing! coaching events, where we will provide everything that is needed to get people fishing, all you need to do is book and turn up. We have Angling Trust qualified coaches up to Level 2 and all coaches and voluntary staff are DBS checked and are experienced anglers. The lead coaches are trained in mental health awareness, first aid and safeguarding. This allows us to give all of our participants and staff a safe, structured, and stable learning environment. We also have a Junior Assistant coaching team, who work alongside our coaches during each session and to help us provide a better session. As well as teaching people how to fish, we also offer advice on how to get going, what you need and where to start.

Fishing is first and foremost a sport, enjoyed by millions of people worldwide. But, it can also bring other benefits, such as being in a relaxed and calming environment or learning new skills to catch your first fish!. Fishing can aid in reducing depression, relieves stress and anxiety. Fishing venues are always abundant with wildlife, surrounding yourself with nature and wonder can boost your mental health, learning to relax and de-stress from the modern world as well as enjoying the benefits from the plant life.

These events are for not just for the juniors, they are also for adults too. You will learn how to catch fish, get to understand more about fishing and meet new people.

If you would like to know more about the events, please do not hesitate and get in contact with us or book a slot…..let’s go fishing!
